This week we celebrated Matariki in Kawakawa Primary School style, with TUNA and TAKAKAU.
Every morning students were able to bring in 1 long finned tuna to be weighed and entered into the competition. Room 16 sat in awe at all the tuna that were entered, there were some HUGE tuna. WOW!!
Daniel entered a takakau into the takakau competition, he was proud to receive a certificate of participation.
On the final day of Matariki celebrations we had open classrooms and our whānau were able to sit in and see what we have learnt about Matariki. Thank you Whaea Moria for joining us. Each syndicate performed kapa haka items to our whānau, and we shared a hangi to end our celebrations.
